**What it is:** AWS monitoring service for logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards.

**What it’s for:**
  * Collect and view [[aws:ops:cloudwatch:logs|Logs]].
  * Track [[aws:ops:cloudwatch:metrics|Metrics]] (CPU, latency, error rate).
  * Trigger [[aws:ops:cloudwatch:alarms|Alarms]] and automate responses.

**Key ideas:**
  * CloudWatch is often the first place to look for operational troubleshooting.
  * Can publish custom metrics from applications.

**Exam cues:**
  * “monitor CPU and trigger scaling” → CloudWatch metrics + alarms + ASG.
  * “centralize logs” → CloudWatch Logs.
