**What it is:** A tense for finished actions in the past at a known time.  
**What it’s for:** Tell stories and talk about yesterday/last week/2019, etc.  
**Example:** “I visited my friend yesterday.”

  * **Affirmative:** S + V2 (past)  
    - I **worked**. / She **went**.
  * **Negative:** S + did not + V1  
    - I **didn’t work**.
  * **Question:** Did + S + V1?  
    - **Did** you work?

  * yesterday, last night/week/year, ago, in 2020

===== Common mistakes =====
  * “Did you went?” ❌ → “Did you **go**?” ✅
  * “I didn’t went” ❌ → “I didn’t **go**” ✅
