**What it is:** Understanding meaning that is not directly stated (read between the lines).  
**What it’s for:** Understand tone, implied meaning, and exam questions.  
**Example:** “He looked at the dark clouds and grabbed an umbrella.” → It will probably rain.

  * Context words (weather, emotions, time)
  * Cause-effect (because, so, therefore)
  * Contrast (but, however)
  * Pronouns (it/they/this refers to what?)

===== Practice =====
  * After each paragraph, ask: “What does the writer suggest?”
  * Write 1 inference sentence: “This implies that…”
