Past Simple
What it is: A tense for finished actions in the past at a known time. What it’s for: Tell stories and talk about yesterday/last week/2019, etc. Example: “I visited my friend yesterday.”
Form
- Affirmative: S + V2 (past)
- I worked. / She went.
- Negative: S + did not + V1
- I didn’t work.
- Question: Did + S + V1?
- Did you work?
Time signals
- yesterday, last night/week/year, ago, in 2020
Common mistakes
- “Did you went?” ❌ → “Did you go?” ✅
- “I didn’t went” ❌ → “I didn’t go” ✅
