Present Continuous
What it is: A tense for actions happening now or around now. What it’s for: Describe temporary actions and current trends. Example: “I’m studying English right now.”
Form
- Affirmative: S + am/is/are + V-ing
- I am working. / She is working. / They are working.
- Negative: S + am/is/are not + V-ing
- She isn’t working today.
- Question: Am/Is/Are + S + V-ing?
- Are you working now?
When to use
- Now: “He is talking on the phone.”
- Temporary: “I’m living in Ho Chi Minh City these days.”
- Trends: “More people are learning online.”
Common mistakes
- “I am study” ❌ → “I am studying” ✅
- “He is go” ❌ → “He is going” ✅
