Present Perfect
What it is: A tense connecting the past to the present. What it’s for: Talk about experiences, results now, and unfinished time. Example: “I have finished my homework.” (Result: it’s done now)
Form
- Affirmative: S + have/has + V3
- I have eaten. / She has eaten.
- Negative: S + have/has not + V3
- He hasn’t seen it.
- Question: Have/Has + S + V3?
- Have you ever been to Da Nang?
Common uses
- Experience: “I’ve been to Japan.”
- Result now: “She has lost her keys.” (she can’t open the door now)
- Unfinished time: “I’ve worked a lot this week.” (this week isn’t finished)
Common signals
- ever, never, already, yet, just, since, for, this week/today
Common mistakes
- “I have saw” ❌ → “I have seen” ✅
- “I’ve finished yesterday” ❌ → use Past Simple: “I finished yesterday” ✅
