What it is: Useful vocabulary for opinions, work, and common abstract ideas. What it’s for: Explain reasons, compare options, discuss pros/cons. Example: “The main advantage is… However, one drawback is…”

High-value categories

  • Opinion phrases: in my opinion, I believe, from my perspective
  • Linking words: however, therefore, although, in addition
  • Work: responsibility, colleague, deadline, priority
  • Daily problems: traffic, budget, stress, solution
  • Phrasal verbs: figure out, set up, carry on
  • Collocations: make progress, take responsibility, meet a deadline
