Active Listening

What it is: Listening with actions: pause, repeat, note, verify. What it’s for: Turn listening into measurable learning (not “nghe cho vui”). Example: Replay 1 sentence, write what you hear, then check transcript.

Steps

  • 1) First listen (gist): What is the topic?
  • 2) Second listen (details): Who did what? when? where?
  • 3) Micro-listen: Pause every sentence, repeat aloud.
  • 4) Check transcript: Find what you missed.
  • 5) Save new phrases: 5 phrases max per session.

Common traps

  • Too hard audio → choose easier level (A2/B1).
  • No repetition → you forget quickly.

Hard words (Glossary)

  • *verify* /ˈverɪfaɪ/: kiểm tra/xác minh
  • *measurable* /ˈmeʒərəbl/: đo được
  • *trap* /træp/: “bẫy”/lỗi hay gặp
